On June 8, Heavenly Melody held the finals for the Sing Out the Gospel Choral Competition at the Howard International Cultural Center in Taipei. The competition was very stiff, with fifteen teams across Taiwan coming for the finals. Some, such as the LiouGui Orphanage located Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan, traveled to Taipei the night before to prepare for the event. Part of Heavenly Melody’s 45th anniversary events, the Sing Out the Gospel Choral Singing Contest encouraged churches around Taiwan to share God’s love through Gospel songs. The O-Kai Choir of the Hsinchu Presbyterian Church won first place, taking home NT100,000 (US3,000). ORTV’s founder Doris Brougham and Heavenly Melody members encouraged all the teams that winning was not most important, but what was most important was to continue to use music to sing out the Gospel.
